Mana Manaaki Project

Mana Manaaki Project

Over the past few months, we embarked on an important journey with our Mana Manaaki project, connecting with marae across regions affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. Together, we’ve worked to strengthen their resilience, ensuring they are better prepared for future natural disasters.

Thanks to the incredible support from the Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal Trust, we’ve begun rolling out the first round of Resilience Hubs. These 20ft shipping containers are filled with essential resources—backup power, satellite communications, food, water, temporary shelter solutions, tools, PPE, and so much more. Each hub is a beacon of hope, ready to support communities when they need it most.

This monumental effort wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our amazing partners:
Sea Containers
Riequip
Starlink
Back Country
Bunnings
Mitre 10
Pak n Save
The Warehouse
Handling Equipment Canterbury
Mountain Warehouse
Supply Me
NZ Red Cross and many more who believed in the power of this mission.

We are deeply grateful to the Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal Trust for their funding, and to every partner who helped empower our marae to safeguard their communities. Together, we are building a future where no one stands alone in the face of disaster.

Although funding through the Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal Trust has closed, there will be more opportunities to equip your marae or community group with a Resilience Hub. If you’re interested, please register your interest here:
Let’s continue this journey of resilience, together.
