School preparedness

Why classroom preparedness matters

In a natural disaster, schools often respond immediately with limited outside support. The first hours rely on what is already onsite, whether that means sheltering in place, managing a lockdown, or evacuating with little warning.

Most schools have a plan. Not every classroom has the supplies on hand to back that plan up on the day it counts.

When an emergency happens, teachers do not get time to prepare. They respond with what is in the room. The time to prepare is today.

The Classroom Survival Backpack was shaped with input from schools and aligned to Ministry of Education and Civil Defence guidance, not handed down from a manual. Classrooms across Aotearoa are already equipped and ready for whatever comes.

Common questions

One per classroom is the usual approach, since each pack supports up to 25 students and one teacher. Larger or shared spaces may need more. Tell us your roll and we will help you work it out.

Yes. Plenty of schools order this way. Get in touch and we will sort the paperwork.

Often, yes. We can provide quotes and supporting documentation to help with grant and funding applications.

Yes, the emergency handbook can be customised with your school's information. Minimum order quantities apply.

The Classroom Survival Backpack is built for school aged students and rooms of up to 25. The Kōhanga Emergency Readiness Backpack is tailored for younger tamariki and mixed age early childhood settings. If you run an ECE service, that one is likely the better fit.
