These backpacks are equipped to assist after earthquakes, floods, severe storms, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and even extended lockdown situations. Each pack contains essential survival resources, including first aid supplies, food rations, water purification, emergency lighting, communication tools, and hygiene essentials to ensure students and teachers can remain safe and comfortable while awaiting further assistance. Whether sheltering in place or evacuating, these backpacks provide practical, easy-to-carry solutions that help schools respond effectively in high-stress situations.

How long will the backpack last?

We have filled the backpacks with components that have a shelf life of a minimum 5 years if stored in a cool and dry environment. We offer a replenishment service where we will replace any expiring items with brand new items for a nominal fee. We will contact you prior to your 5 year purchase anniversary to discuss. If you need to replace anything sooner please contact us via email or livechat.

What else will I need to add to my kit?

Every school has unique needs, so while our School Disaster Relief Backpack covers the essentials, you may need to add specific items.

ECE centres should include nappies, formula, bottles, and necessary medications.
Schools may want to store allergen-safe foods and extra bottled water.
For medical or food refrigeration needs, a backup power generator may be required (available through Crisis Bunker).

We also offer empty Crisis Bunker backpacks for storing additional supplies. Your school's emergency management plan will outline specific requirements—download a template and guide at the bottom of this page.

Where is Crisis Bunker located?

Crisis Bunker is owned and operated by Kiwi's located at 8 / 38 Ashley Place, Papamoa, Bay of Plenty, NZ.

Where do you deliver to?

We dispatch from our Papamoa Warehouse in the Bay of Plenty and deliver to all addresses across New Zealand including rural addresses via Courierpost.

BDH Emergency Ration Food Provisions

Each Bar is 120g - Total of 2385kj

20 Year Shelf life from manufacture. We get our rations new from the manufacturer so these rations will have a shelf life till 2040 at least.

Ingredients: Wheat Flour 60%, vegetable oil (palm), sugar, glucose syrup, water, salt, raising agent: sodium carbonate, flavoring extracts

*Not Gluten Free

And most importantly they actually taste pretty good. Similar to a good old fashioned malt biscuit.
