STRONGER COMMUNITIES, SAFER FUTURES

Crisis Bunker is a Māori-led impact enterprise strengthening emergency readiness across Aotearoa. We equip whānau, schools, workplaces, marae and community organisations with practical tools and systems to stay safe, connected and resilient when disaster strikes.

Recent events — from COVID-19 to Cyclone Gabrielle — have made it clear that preparedness is no longer optional. Our work spans ready-to-go survival packs through to fully customised community resilience projects designed to match the needs of each rohe.

Supporting marae, hapū and iwi sits at the heart of our kaupapa. Through Resilience Hubs, Trailers and Lockers, we help marae act as anchors during emergencies, providing power, water, shelter and welfare support for whānau and the wider community.

From household backpacks to large-scale, multi-marae initiatives, we walk alongside the people of Aotearoa to prepare, respond and recover together.

OUR IMPACT

Since launching after Cyclone Gabrielle, Crisis Bunker has helped strengthen emergency readiness across Aotearoa through practical solutions grounded in community needs:

  • 38 Resilience Hubs installed across the motu, with many more underway.

  • 34 agencies, kura and organisations equipped with emergency response resources.

  • 200+ marae and community groups supported through resilience planning and preparedness projects.

  • Thousands of Survival Backpacks delivered to whānau, workplaces and community facilities.

Every project builds capability, reduces vulnerability, and strengthens local response capacity long before outside help can arrive.

SUPPORTING MĀORI & IWI RESILIENCE

Our kaupapa is grounded in mana motuhake — enabling whānau, hapū and iwi to lead their own emergency response from their own ātea.

Crisis Bunker works in partnership with marae, kaumātua and iwi leaders to ensure every solution upholds tikanga, reflects local priorities, and strengthens the role of marae as community anchors during emergencies.

Resilience Hubs, Trailers and Lockers are designed to support welfare, power, water, communications and shelter needs during the critical first 72+ hours, empowering communities to care for their own while national services mobilise.

NATIONWIDE SERVICE

Based in Papamoa, Bay of Plenty, we provide readiness solutions across Aotearoa, including rural and isolated regions and outlying islands. Our team also supports resilience projects throughout Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa (the Pacific) where communities face increasing climate-driven risks.

Wherever you are, we bring practical, community-led preparedness to your doorstep.

OUR COMMITMENT

Preparedness is not just an option — it is a responsibility. Crisis Bunker is dedicated to equipping individuals, organisations and communities with the tools, infrastructure and capability needed to stay safe, respond early, and recover stronger.

Whether you’re seeking a personal emergency kit, a Resilience Hub for your marae or community, or expert guidance on funding and preparedness planning, we are here to support your kaupapa every step of the way.
