Our kaupapa
The values that guide everything we do
Crisis Bunker is built on a set of commitments to the communities we serve. These are not aspirations. They are how we operate.
What guides us
Kaupapa before catalogue
Before we talk products, funding or installs, there is a set of values that shapes how Crisis Bunker shows up. These principles come from te ao Māori and they inform every relationship, every project, and every decision we make alongside communities.
Our principles
Five principles. One kaupapa.
Mana Motuhake
Self-determination
Communities should have the capability to lead their own emergency response. We resource and enable that capability rather than create dependency on outside help.
Whakawhanaungatanga
Relationship and partnership
Every project begins with a relationship. We walk alongside communities, not in front of them. We listen before we act, and we stay in the relationship long after the install is done.
Kaitiakitanga
Guardianship and protection
Emergency preparedness is an act of care for people, place and whakapapa. We help communities protect what matters most for the generations that follow.
Kotahitanga
Unity and collective strength
Resilience is not built alone. We connect communities, funders, councils and CDEM partners around a shared goal so the response network is stronger for everyone.
Mātauranga
Knowledge and capability
Preparedness built on knowledge lasts. We invest in training and education so communities understand what they have, how to use it, and how to plan for what is coming.
