When seconds matter, the kōhanga is ready
Purpose built emergency readiness for kōhanga reo and early childhood settings: earthquakes, severe weather, lockdowns and evacuations.
The first hours rely on what is already in the room
In an emergency, early childhood settings respond immediately and often with little outside support. Whether sheltering in place, managing a lockdown, or evacuating with little warning, kaiako work with whatever is already onsite.
Most kōhanga have a plan. Not every kōhanga has the supplies on hand to back that plan up on the day it counts, organised for the youngest tamariki and a mixed age group.
When it happens, kaiako do not get time to prepare. They respond with what is in the room. The time to prepare is today.
